Republic Established in Portugal
In 1908 king Dom Carlos I and his heir, Prince Royal Dom Lu\EDs Filipe, were murdered in Lisbon. This brought Manuel II into power. Portugal has had serious social unrest and this resulted in an overthrow of the government and the start of the Portuguese First Republic. Hopefully some peace will come to the people.

Make Appeal For Self Determination


The nation should underwrite neither foreign imperialism nor Foreign expansionism, William Bann, Jr., candidate for Congress from declared last night. Mr. Bann is currently 13 points down on his opponent, Bob Lymaker.

GEARCITY SCHOOL NEWS


A play was presented by Miss Brown in the auditorium at assembly yesterday. The play entitled 'A Rough Day.' Was about a teacher, Miss Anybody, who has a very bad class and just can't control them. A boy named Very Dickens, who was full of mischief, didn't help the class at all. A very helpful child, Amy Goodkind helped the teacher from losing her temper.

Jerry Smith, 63, Dies of Heart Attack


Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Kolbodi's Funeral Home, for Jerry T. Smith. 63. Mr. Smith died last Friday morning of a heart disease caused by excess business management game playing.
