If you have many vehicles, maintaining the shipping distance for each model might become cumbersome. The game offers several tools to combat this. One of these tools applies a shipping distance to all vehicles in a branch. You can access this feature from the world map. Select a branch, then select Shipping. Click the "Adjust Distance" button. Adjust the distance. Click Return after you found the distance you want. Then click Apply. All vehicles in the branch now have their shipping distances set to this value. Let’s go into the Distribution window and look. Any vehicle you click on the list will have the same shipping distance. What if there was one particular model you didn’t want to apply a branch level shipping distance to? Easy, you need to "lock" that model's shipping distance. Selecting the individual model you want to lock, click the Shipping Distance button from the Branch Distribution window. At the bottom, there is a "Lock Shipping" checkbox. Select this checkbox. Set the distance you want, then click “Return”. Don’t forget to apply your changes. If you use "Apply to All" it will apply the lock, shipping distance, and price for this model to all your branches. You’ll see the Shipping Lock status turn to "Lock". Let’s go back to the Branch Shipping Panel and adjust the distance for the branch. Don’t forget to hit “Apply”. Returning to the Branch Distribution window and selecting the vehicle, you’ll see that it still has the locked value. Great, but what if you don’t want to set a shipping distance every time you sell a new vehicle? There is a tool for that too. Return to the Branch Shipping panel. You’ll find a checkbox labeled, “Vehicles inherit branch shipping distance or district locks”. Checking this box, and then hitting Apply, will cause any new vehicles sold at this location to inherit the Branch Level shipping distance you have set. It also works for district locks, which we will cover soon. Let’s finish a new vehicle design. We’ll skip ahead to when it’s ready for sale. Setting this vehicle for sale, it will automatically have the branch level shipping distance applied. Another great feature of the Inherit Branch Shipping Distance system is if you use the “Apply to All” button. The "Inherit" system will override any shipping distances set with the "Apply to All" button with the local branch’s shipping distance. These tools also work at the district level. But the Districting system has an additional feature called “District Locking”. These two dropdowns contain regional and country districts on the left, and custom districts on the right. If you were to select one of these and click the Apply Shipping District, it will lock the branches in your district to only receive vehicles from the district in either dropdown. For example, if the current district is "Europe". And I select France from this dropdown. And then I hit “Apply Shipping District”. Then all branches in Europe will only get vehicles from factories located in France. Combined with the custom districts, District Locks are a powerful tool. Please note, in the district branch shipping window, there are two apply buttons. This apply button serves for the Shipping Distances slider, whereas the bottom Apply button works with the District Locks system. Both Apply buttons will set the “Vehicles inherit branch shipping distance or district locks”. Finally, if you enable Autoproduction, it will override all shipping distances, shipping locks, and district locks. Autoproduction uses global shipping and its own set of tools to restrict shipping. We cover these in a separate video.
