Let’s say you don’t have any factories. How would you produce any vehicles? You can’t. But that doesn’t mean you can’t sell vehicles. You can buy cars from other companies, slap your badge on the front, and sell them to customers. We call this “Outsourcing,” and it’s very common. You can access the Outsourcing system in RnD. Click Outsourcing, and then select what you want to outsource. This is the Outsourcing, Licensing, Platform Sharing window. If you have done the Licensing tutorial, we cover this window in depth. This tutorial will not cover smaller parts of this window as thoroughly. On the left side, you’ll find radio buttons. To use the Outsourcing system, you must select the Outsourcing radio button. You can change what you want to outsource with these buttons. This manage button we’ll cover soon. In the center are filters to limit the designs in the top-right list. By default, the game selects your company. When your company is selected, the list shows your designs available to sell to other companies. Let’s change the company filter to all companies. Now the list shows all designs available to buy from other companies. In this box is the contract to buy the selected unit. You will see the price of a unit on the list and in this text. In this box, you need to enter the total number of units you want to buy over the next 12 months. For example, if you enter 120 units. You will receive approximately 11 units per month until they deliver all the units. If this is the design you want to purchase, click Purchase. The entry will turn green in the list. That means you have the rights to this design. Now every month, the AI company will produce units and sell them to you as contracted. If you purchased a component, you can use the component as if it were any other component in the game. Production of vehicles using outsourced components is limited to the number of components you have in stock. You can also run out of outsourced vehicles. That’s where the Manage button comes into play. In this list are the outsourced designs you’re buying. You can use this filter to display the different types of designs you're buying. Selecting a unit, you’ll find information about your current order here. Pay special attention to the Units Ordered and the Units Shipped. The difference between these two numbers is how many units remain in the contract. You can order more units by entering the number of additional units you want here. And then click the Order button. We add the number of units you entered to the remaining orders from the previous order. The game then renews the contract for another 12 months, and it calculates a new Orders per Month amount. You can not reduce the number of units you ordered, but you can terminate an outsourced contract without penalty. To do this, click this button. You can also reorder the design to restart the contract. The designs will remain in these lists until you end production of the design, as you would any other design. You can also access the Manage window from the Mega Menu. Now, what if you wanted to sell your vehicle to other companies? The Outsourcing system for suppliers works similar to the licensing system and the contracting system. First, you must open the Outsourcing window in RnD. Be sure to select the Outsourcing radio button. The game should select your company by default. But if it does not, you should select your company in the filter. Select the design you want to sell to other manufacturers. Enter the price you want to sell manufactured units for in this box. And then hit “Sell”. The design is now for sale. When AI companies buy your designs, you’ll receive a pop-up notification if you do not have an adequate number of units in production. From there, the system works just like the contracting system. You need to assign components to a factory via either the world map, mega menu, or the game pop-up. Outsourced vehicle designs will ship from production before consumers get their vehicles. At any time, you can terminate the contract without a fee. Once you fill the order, the AI may request to renew the contract. You may choose if you wish to renew the contract or not.
